About Fontista

What Fontista is

Fontista is a font discovery platform with a point of view. Every family is curated, previewed live in its own typeface, and paired with the context you need to choose well: what it is good for, what it pairs with, how to install it, and how it behaves in real product surfaces.

It is free, it has no accounts, and it tracks nobody. Your favorites, collections, and compare tray live in your own browser, as a local profile you can export as a file or a link and carry to another machine. It works offline once you have visited.

How it helps, for free

A developer starting a product should not need a typography degree to pick a responsible type system, and should not trade their data to do it. Fontista gives away the whole stack: the curation, the context, the tooling, and the guidance. Everything runs client-side and the catalog ships as static files.

Where it is going

  • Contextual intelligence. You will ask what you are building, and Fontista will answer with a ranked, reasoned shortlist. Deterministic and explainable, built on structured font properties rather than mystery machine learning.
  • A complete catalog. Latin is nearly saturated. The frontier is more scripts and more specialty voices, ingested through a pipeline with a human review gate so curation survives scale.
  • The AI-session surface. Fontista will ship as an MCP server, so any AI coding session can call this curation as a tool.
  • One periodic table. Every family carries an element of its own: a two-letter symbol, an atomic number from its popularity, a place on the spectrum. The catalog is becoming a legible, shareable system.

The business around it

The catalog and the tools stay free. If Fontista ever earns, it will be around the edges: team features for design systems, a typography API with a generous free tier, foundry launch partnerships. The data stays open and the promise stays written down.
